What's the difference between 2D and 3D?

How do soft enamel and imitation hard enamel differ?

A coin with soft enamel will have an uneven surface, as the soft enamel will sit on the recessed metal and be lower than the raised metal areas. Imitation hard enamel (or soft cloisonne) will give a smooth, level surface to the coin. Imitation hard enamel is also more durable and epoxy is not necessary with this finish.
